Course Overview:
This course has been especially developed to meet the EYFS and OFSTED requirements for first aid training covering babies and children. It is recommended for schools, nurseries, child minders and for anyone who works with children. This course is also beneficial for babysitters, parents and grandparents wanting to gain an understanding of first aid for children and babies in their early years.
Course Outline:
Learners will cover the following during the course:
: Legal requirements and responsibilities of the Pediatric First Aider
: Safety at the scene of accidents
: Resuscitation – Babies – Children - Adults
: Unconscious casualty management
: Recovery position
: Management of wounds and bleeding
: Shock
: Choking – asthma - hyperventilation - croup
: Eye injuries
: Head injuries
: Bone - joint - muscle injuries
: Burns and scalds
: Poisoning
: Bites and Stings
: Childhood conditions to include: Infantile convulsions, sickle cell, meningitis, epilepsy, diabetes, anaphylactic shock, EpiPen use and the extremes of heat and cold.

2 Days
Course Assessment:
This course is subject to an ongoing assessment throughout the two days by the tutor. There is no final assessment. The tutor ensures a thorough understanding has been achieved by questions, answers, discussion and practical scenarios.
Course Certification:
Successful delegates receive a certificate of attendance that is recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and valid for a period of three years
Other Information:
All delegates receive a quality first aid manual. Sensible dress is advised as practical floor-based activities are required.
